Hi, as the newest addition to the Crackers Radio DJ roster, I am eager to step up to the mark. I specialise in 70′ and 80’s Soul Funk Jazz Funk and Rare Grooves drawn from a vast collection of vinyl. Although new to Crackers Radio, I have been in the scene from the begining of the 80s, where I played most of the S.E. London venues, Swan and Sugarloaf, Bloomers, Tanners, most of the Old Kent Road and Deptford.
Had the pleasure of warming up for legendary mafia jocks, Sean French, Chris Brown, Bob Jones and Jeff Young as well as regular gigs with Sean at both club and Radio level. Working in the music industry for 25 years from club promotion through to A&R at Chappell Music where I signed and initiated the UK Releases of Lonnie Hill – Galveston Bay and Thomas & Taylors – You Can’t Blame Love.
I also signed to the UK, The whole of the legendary Memphis based soul Writer/Artist and Producer – Willie Mitchell and his Waylo catalogue. Shortly after he produced Wet Wet Wet- The Memphis Sessions.
My love and vibe for the music is still as strong if not stronger than ever and my aim with my show ‘ The Friday Night Takeaway’ is to bring both those who remember ‘back in the day’ as well as giving the younger Soulboys and Soulgirls an insight of the booming scene that captured the clubbing and radio phenomenon of the early 80s, and the pride in being part of The Soul Family.
