Growing up in Gravesend and listening to Pirate radio, I discovered the sounds of electro which then via the likes of Nucleus “Jam On It” took me into exploring the sounds of jazz funk. As a school boy I would bunk Friday morning assembly to visit Norman in the local market as he always had fresh sounds on a Friday and that was the beginning of becoming a proper junkie.

With my friend Craig we started some residencies around Gravesend before joining Eddie Gordon’s roster at the Waterfront with the likes of Colin Hudd and Pete Tong.  With Craig we transitioned a proportion of Kent out of the soul boy scene into a jazz dance scene on the back of the rare groove explosion. When the rave scene became established our focus was on keeping the jazz vibe alive at legendary gigs in the late 80s and 90s including the Slammer, Liberation, Brooklyn, Living Easy and Lashings.

I also had regular guest spots at the famous Sunday Dingwalls Talkin Loud sessions and shared a Fridge residency with James Lavelle as well as various other London clubs and the Livewire soul weekenders.

The Healing Force (….as music is the Healing Force of the Universe) is the perfect way to end the weekend with our focus on spiritual jazzy sounds alongside a healthy dose of jazz funk, fusion, funk, boogie, brazilian and soul and anything that sounds good and fits nicely in the shadows of Coltrane, Max Roach and Joe Henderson. Tune in to hear the masters alongside the likes of TCQ, Goldie to Jhelisa Anderson and the Young Disciples!
