Louis B / Presenter

Louis B shows

My name is Louis Batey (“Louis B”).

My passion for music began when I taught myself to play the Clarinet at 9 years old and later, teaching myself to play the Saxophone.

I formed Funk/Soul bands at school and years later, had some success as a Solo Artist, performing PA’s as a Solo Saxophonist, at BBC Radio London’s “Soul Night Out,” hosted by Tony Blackburn and the Great, Late Steve Walsh (RIP).

My musical background consists of being influenced by parent’s Jazz, Swing, Blues and Latin Records as a Child.

As a teenager, I became passionate about Jazz-Funk and Soul Music.  I used to go to the Friday Lunchtime sessions at the Legendary Crackers Club. Also, I used to go to the Saturday afternoon sessions at Gossips, and Spats, and I was a regular at The Electric Ballroom on Friday nights.  I have happy memories of going to these clubs, hosted by the legendary DJ George Power (RIP).

I also used to go to the Lyceum All Dayers and Caister Weekenders.

I want to present on radio, the music of my era which is Jazz-Funk Fusion Music of the 1970’s and 80’s (I was a Jazz-Funkateer and Boogie Boy back in the day)!

I have produced and presented numerous radio programmes whilst at university (“Jazz in The UK Today,” interviewing the Founder of Jazz FM Jonathan Abbott and “Bless the Funk-The Story of Brit-Funk,” interviewing the talented and renowned Kenny Wellington of Light of The World/Beggar & Co/The Brit-Funk Association and The Great Jazz FM and Capital Radio DJ/Presenter the Late Peter Young (RIP).

Additionally, I co-presented a weekly Jazz Feature on LBC Radio, with the highly-respected Broadcaster and Journalist Tim Crook.

In my spare time, I write and record my own compositions in many genres which includes: Jazz-House, and also, Tropical/Latin House.
